Allosaurus is one of the best known meat eating dinosaurs. It had three claws on each forelimb, and a large skull with finely serrated teeth. Larger 'Allosaurus' have been rumored, but they are probably different genera. Allosaurus may have been present in Europe (Portugal)too.

In 1991, an especially well preserved skeleton, found in Wyoming, USA, was given the name "Big Al".
