One of the most famous of all dinosaurs, Diplodocus was a gigantic plant-eating sauropod. It had peg-like teeth, and an extra row of anvil-shaped bones under its backbone, from which the name "double beamed" comes. This is proposed to have added stability to the hugely long neck and tail.

Diplodocus is the longest land animal ever found known from an almost complete skeleton.
